The current Scheels Hardware has made a significant move and expansion to 3202 13th Avenue South in Fargo, which was the previous location of Scheels All Sports. This expansion allowed for the new Scheels Home & Hardware to double its size to over 45,000 square feet of sales area. With the additional space, the new store features; an expanded lawn, garden, deck, and patio outdoor living shop; interior/home decor and accents for every room of the house; an in-store cafe serving fresh coffee and baked goods; a complete fastener and hardware shop; a rental equipment shop; a full service paint and color center offering in-home color consultations; the Pride of Dakota shop; a cooking demonstration area; and a motor/service shop, where certified service technicians can repair, or simply tune-up everything from a chainsaw to a snow blower.

Scheels Hardware has been a cornerstone of the South Fargo community since it opened in 1962. The success of Scheels Hardware is directly attributed to the loyal support of its customers and the community. This support has provided Scheels the opportunity to grow and expand to better serve its customers.

The first Scheels store opened as a small hardware and general merchandise store in Sabin, MN in 1902. In 1954, Scheels began to add sporting goods to its merchandise, and is now known as an all-sports store. Scheels Home and Hardware is currently the only Scheels store that is dedicated solely to selling hardware and home décor items.

Scheel founded Scheels as a general merchandise and hardware store. Steve D. Scheel, the great grandson of Scheels' founder, is Scheels' CEO, and Steve M. Scheel, the great-great grandson of Scheels' founder, is the president and oversees the daily operations of over 4,000 associates.
