Scheels: What should parents/children be looking for when buying a football shoe?

Falk: It all depends on age and skill level. If you are in a school football program, I recommend a detachable cleat, where as the junior level starter would want a shoe with molded rubber cleats.

Scheels: Are there many football shoes out on the market?

Falk: There are numerous brand names, but basically there are three different types of cleats: detachable, molded rubber and lightweight speed.

Scheels: Out of those three, which one is the most popular?

Falk: The shoes with the detachable cleats because they can be used for all weather conditions.

Scheels: How often should people buy a new pair of football shoes?

Falk: If they are taken care of, the shoe should last for a season.

Scheels: What trends in football shoes are people following these days?

Falk: Skill players are trying to get the lightest weight shoe to give them an extra edge for their game.

Scheels: What kinds of football shoes do parents normally get their kids?

Falk: When our customers come into the shop, 99% of the time it is parents and their child, so they are looking for the proper fit and function. Ultimately, the child is the one who will decide which shoe to buy.

Scheels: What kind of features should parents be looking for in a football shoe?

Falk: Widths and spike distribution.

Scheels: How do you know which football shoe will work best for you?

Falk: Depending on the skill level of the player, you need to get a shoe that is specific for their position.

Scheels: What advice do you have for people looking for a particular shoe?

Falk: Make sure you get a shoe that fits right and will perform for his or her position.

Scheels: What brought you to Scheels?

Falk: My wife is from Dilworth, Minnesota and we wanted to settle down in the area. I had sold shoes in the past and I had that ambition again.

Scheels: Do you have any favorite sports?

Falk: Football, basketball and volleyball

Scheels: What is your biggest challenge?

Falk: I often have customers come into the shop with feet that need special attention. I find that this challenges me to find the best shoe possible for their needs.

Scheels: What excites you when customers come into the store?

Falk: Our customers know that when they travel to Scheels, they will find the best footwear that will help the athlete perform at the highest level, no matter what the sport is!
